EHEI - Ecosystems for Higher Education Inclusion

EHEI is a project funded by the European Commision under the Horizon Europe Programme, GA 101236475

General description

What does access to higher education look like from the perspective of underserved communities? This question is being tackled by civil society organisations and academic institutions across Europe and Latin America. Supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the EHEI project is bringing them together to explore this question and to create a cross-continental network for inclusive transformation. The aim is to develop more inclusive teaching, guidance, and support systems. Through staff exchanges, on-the-ground collaborations, and intersectional research, the project aims to reshape how universities and civil society organizations engage with underserved groups. At its heart, EHEI is about turning reflection into action, ensuring educational systems evolve to truly support every learner’s path.

Objectives

In line with this objective the project will contribute to both knowledge production and social innovation through the following project objectives:

Imagine for objectives

O1

To document and understand transitions to and from higher education as individual and collective processes from the perspective of underserved groups in an intersectional perspective through a Global South-North scholarly and intersectoral dialogue informed by following a common research agenda (WP 1)

Imagine for objectives

O2

To interrogate what university inclusion means in light of the tense relationship between universal design for learning and ecologies of knowledge and to assess experimental university programs and initiatives to mitigate structural barriers and democratize the legitimate forms and formats in which knowledge circulates (WP2)

Imagine for objectives

O3

To establish reflective teaching, administrative and guidance practices to enhance inclusivity and effectiveness of pre-university and university services for underserved groups enhanced by a whole university approach to inclusive transformation manifested in teaching, learning and university policies (WP 3)

Imagine for objectives

O4

To craft and/or strengthen reflective intersectoral, international and community immersed solidarity spaces (often anchored outside of the university) and advocacy for and by underserved groups in relation to higher education inclusion locally and transnationally (WP4)

Imagine for objectives

O5

To refine interdisciplinary and intersectionally inclusive research methodologies to better comprehend educational transition and inclusion processes and to pilot these methodologies with underserved groups and other relevant university stakeholders (WP 5)

Imagine for objectives

O6

To create a sustainable ecosystemic network that will work beyond the project to facilitate and understand processes of higher education transition and inclusion of underserved groups (WP6)
